The Friends of Rothwell Country Park was established in August 2010 after a number of public meetings to discuss the future of the park. Since the park was opened in the year 2000 very little habitat management work has been conducted and if left would eventually revert back to natural woodland to the detriment of the flora and fauna.

Once a group of volunteers was established a Core Section was elected to act as the Group’s Committee to keep the Friends Group and local area informed of all the work, activities and events that were taking place on the park.

The Friends Group main Aims and Objectives are:

-To increase public awareness and enjoyment of the park. Conserve and enhance the wildlife and local history of the park.
-Make improvements where necessary to facilities on the park.
-Work with similar groups and exchange information and advice with them.
-Liaise with all appropriate organisations to achieve objectives.
-Promoting the health and well-being of the residents of the area and working together with residents regardless of age, ethnic origin, ability, sex, belief or political affiliation, recognising the value of our many differences.

The group are fully insured to work on the park. Some members are First Aid trained and the group have a Child Safety and Protection Policy and Equal Opportunities and Diversity Policy in place.
